bossymarmalade: abe simpson hating his party hat (give *me* a slice!!)
I keep intending to make those draft blocking thingies to put at the bottom of our doors to keep the place warmer but haven't yet, and today I succumbed to desperation and used a hand-me-down sari that my mom gave me. It was either that or the cat.

Speaking of the cat, Meera is now at an age where her kidneys need looking at and hence I found myself on the floor tipping her litter box so I could dutifully syringe up fresh cat pee to deliver to the vet, as Meera inconsiderately did not have enough piss in her bladder on her recent vet checkup. She sat and watched me and then recoiled when I tried to pet her. Bloody typical.

I have been sampling chocolate varieties from David's Tea and here's my reviews, including the ingredient lists:

chocolate macaroon coco-choco: black tea, toasted coconut, pecans, cacao nibs, rock cane sugar -- not bad, but not very exciting. I don't know why the pecans are even in there. Just to get rancid if you leave it too long, I guess.

chocolate earl grey: black tea, candied papaya, chocolate, white chocolate, apple, cocoa pieces, cocoa peel, caramel, rose buds, vanilla, rose petals -- I should have fucking known this one would be terrible from the sheer length of the ingredient list and the inclusion of tropical fruit for no goddamn reason and apparently two forms of rose

choco chaga detox (god it's a DETOX tea I swear I did not get it for this reason): cocoa beans, black tea, cocoa husk, roasted chicory, carob, chaga (that's the mushroom, i gather) -- it's delicious despite you actually being able to discern a mushroom taste and the fact that it includes those staples of a good 70s post-hippie diet, chicory and carob. I bought this thinking like an asshole "hah hah, this sounds dumb i'll try it out and then be smug when it's terrible, i mean it's got the slogan lean clean cocoa bean clearly i can dunk on it" and now look at me. Hubris.

In conclusion, here's an Ex Machina fic I wrote a little while ago. The movie wasn't half as clever as it thought it was and so a lot of it kind of nagged at me afterwards.

In the depths of shame, the good deeds a man has done before defend him. The defense depends on two things, though: whether anybody else agrees that those were good deeds, and if that man feels shame at all.
