don't thank me, thank the knife
Why hello, everybody.
Earlier this year I had appendicitis! And because I'm an unholy monster with a pain threshhold that surpasses carthorses, I languished for three days with my ruptured appendix, wondering what the hell sort of flu caused a bellyache like that, before betaking my fool ass to the hospital where I was summarily operated upon and then languished there in a hot uncomfortable bed surrounded by a rotating coterie of middle-aged to elderly white women who all either a) had a SHIT TON of visitors at all times or b) had many conversations about their summer homes on the Island, their luxurious trips abroad, or ther profitable business ventures, while nurses attempted and failed many, MANY times to locate veins into which they could poke needles into me in the hopes of extracting blood!
Anyway this isn't even what I want to talk about, which is fandommy stuff, because I dunno I've fallen into a Tom Hardy madness of late? And my friend John and I created a tumblr called 'tommyplum' to that effect. There are three of my contributions perhaps worth looking at so far, all of the Peaky Blinders persuasion:
..the gospel of alfie solomons, transcribed by me, and its companion piece;
..the ballad of tommy shelby, likewise, and;
..arbiter of many things, daylight among them which is an alfie pov one-shot thing.
It's been SO LONG since I did anything fandommy, I feel weird.

Whew, glad the appendix didn’t cause you more grief. The vampire nurses have trouble with my tiny veins, too.
And yay for fandomish feels! I’m starting to rediscover mine after a long dry spell. It feels nice. I hope you’re enjoying yours.

I'm about halfway through the current season of Peaky Blinders. Trying to draw it out, because I sort of never want it to end. I thiiink I might have gotten spoiled by a headline I just saw on YouTube this afternoon. Oops.

But also I'm very happy to read of your fandom squee, as it is an excellent fandom to squee about and in particular a very excellent character to squee about. I can only assume that you are caught up and heard the high-pitched squeal I admitted at a certain revelation that I was, bless the hearts of all of my friends, entirely unspoiled for and did not see coming.

OMG I'm obsessed with it and with Alfie <3333. I am not quite caught up but have been thoroughly spoiled by tumblr which is horrible about such things, heh, but fortunately I'm not too bothered about it and am just happy for the news. YAY!!!!

Alfie is my second favourite character after Polly, and I could write an entire essay series on Jewish stereotypes in the media and how meaningful it is for me personally to see a character like him, which does not exist outside of some Coen Brothers movies, maybe, and anyway he's fucking amazing and when the reveal happened I shrieked and forgave every single decision the showrunners made that I had ever disagreed with. (Which, granted, were not many as it's pretty much a flaw-free show. But there have been a few. The slate is now clean.)
