it's bringing love! break its legs!
Dec. 24th, 2007 07:25 amFirst round of the MtYG recs!
. the mathematician and the adventurer: SO much fun. It's a bunch of fantasy elements and a great rollicking adventure story, with funny and fond characterization!
. many times, many ways: hee! Breakneck-speed Chris & JC cleverness, like everything I love best about the pairing frozen up and broken into delicious pieces.
. six steps to being a better stand-up: OMG, even if this story wasn't sweet hot first-time timbertrick I'd love it. Because it's so effortlessly wonderful and chic in the way that the best alternate reality fics are, and I feel like I'm reading about old friends.
. the magic bean: warm and rich and sweet without being cloying, this story is like sticky-spicy gingerbread. The balance of sharp and round is just right and so engaging.
. still in the running: it's everything you like best about both America's Next Top Model AND Television Without Pity, which is to say: GO READ IT. I laughed my ass off, while still managing to lengthen my neck and not have dead eyes! It's hysterically funny AND instructional!!
. your building's on fire: this one was kind of rushed at the end, but I know (from experience) that's a sesa malady and I'm hoping for a revised and more extensive version after the reveal. It's strange and prickly, but there's an exploration of the interpersonal relationships on the threemanbus that's insightful and realistic and fabulously done.
