Okay, y'all -- I have not done the 5 Things meme, but fortunately The Wee Sister has. I say "fortunately" because they are just as (if not more) entertaining than if I'd done them my own self. Hee! Some of the HP and Supernatural ones made me laugh out loud, not to mention the Star Trek one.

For some reason, now that I've picked up all my texts and course manuals for school, I feel less nervous. In fact (NERD ALERT) I got them home and kind of wanted to get started on assignments right away (END NERD ALERT).

In less geek-patrol news, I see that the JuC Swap has gone live! I only had a chance to read one of the stories, mais naturellement c'est le fic de mon bon amie Beth -- demi-monde. There's nothing better than a good hookerfic, especially when the hookers have enough airs and money to be called courtesans! And since it's Beth, there's not only scrumptious sex-scenes and characterization that makes me seethe in envy, but also a clever plot with intrigue! and danger! and many other delightful things. The only thing that could have made the story better was if they dined on ortolan, but then it would have been for *me* and not the recipient. Unless Topaz is fond of ortolan. Which she might well be.

Anyhow -- VMAs in a couple of hours! WHOOT!!

Either I'm getting old and crotchety, or these award shows just become more bafflingly awkward and unsightly every year. Maybe it's both.

Anyhow, Justin was cool, Pharrell confusing, Shakira and Christina lovely and Clef, omg MAKE UP WITH LAURYN ALREADY. Prazwell is just sitting by the phone at home waiting for you crazy kids to sort stuff out so he can sell some records and eat real food again.

The most annoying part of the night was Lou Reed saying that MTV should return to playing rock'n roll videos, stuff with "two guitars a bass and drums". AND THE COLOURED GIRLS GO ... well, I guess they go back to being backup singers. Shut up, Lou, and buy some jeans that weren't made in 1987.
