which was the fashion at the time
Aug. 17th, 2006 09:02 amSo some of you may know that I have, on occasion, referred to Tour of Duty in various memes as "the fandom I should have set fire to when I left and then salted the ground so nothing else could grow". Lately I was seized with anger that the old crappy Tripod archive of fic was still up, and tore it all down in order to re-archive it all properly. While this is largely unimportant, it also led to me tearing down my hubsite page and redoing that, too. And considering I have absolutely no sense of website design/knowhow, it turned out pretty cute! Go team me!!
I have found out that my father has surreptitiously become a HUGE FAN of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. When and how did this happen?!? The man is seventy years old! I didn't think he'd even understand half of the jokes! But no, he keeps spouting Colbert quotes that I don't recognize. I am so weirded out.

According to the press office from the Department of Homeland Security, lowered-threat Yellow means that there were no special inspections of passengers or cargo. Isn't it nice of Mr. Bush to alert Osama when half our security forces are given the day off? Hmm. I asked an Israeli security expert why his nation doesn't use these pretty color codes.
He asked me if, when I woke up, I checked the day's terror color.
"I can't say I ever have. I mean, who would?"
He smiled. "The terrorists."
Well worth a read.
