Back from the dentist -- oh, the joy of having student health coverage! And now, more link-type affairs, because that's what I'm good at:
Stephen Colbert: New American Hero - hell, I sent my *dad* a transcript of the speech Colbert did, and my dad is almost seventy and watches chick flicks and thinks Cher really came into her own when she recorded "Believe" but he still thought it was the Best Speech Ever. I guess the media finds it easier to just continue lambasting the Dixie Chicks for one innocuous comment that they can spin and spin until it's built into some sort of ludicrous act of treason; addressing what Stephen Colbert said to Bush's face would mean that they'd have to admit that pretty much everything he accused the administration (and the media) of was damn well true and they've been choosing instead to focus on Bitsy's whaaate-traysh pregnancy follies and how Jennifer Aniston should be canonized for holding up under her terrible, terrible sorrow.
Just to come clean with their complete lack of relevance, I think all news programs from now on should display the Fox News Crawl from that episode of The Simpsons.

We got a bunch of the turtle cards and they are completely adorable and very good quality; they truly are little squares of hand-printed goodness. Plus, prices are in Canadian $! You can't lose.
If you're feeling like reading something, I suggest Topaz's Reentry. Y'all know how I feel about the usual flavour of Hiatus post-solo timbertrick and the "justin = asshole, chris = MARTYR" logarithm that most of those fics are written from. This is COMPLETELY not that. It's a nicely textured, complicated look at the pairing that really taps into what makes them so close and makes them able to not only *stand* each other's jerkass behaviour but understand and deal with it. Good stuff.
