and what's hip seems wrong and scary
Jun. 5th, 2003 07:32 amOn the radio news this morning:
"The FBI has recruited three fourteen year-old girls to teach agents how to convincingly pose as teenage girls online in order to catch paedophiles. The agents had to take quizzes based on pop culture; the first time, all of them failed. One agent refused to believe his answer that Justin Timberlake is more popular than Destiny's Child was wrong."
Hah! Now we know who Jup's real target demographic is.
Anyhow, I considered doing the JC-fic rec thing, then decided against it--largely because so many other people were reccing (complete with pretty pictures!) and I figured I couldn't add anything to that. But then I figured out what I want to do, thanks to a post
flambeau made.
So, first JC rec, as interpreted by The Poem Generator:
Ready To Wear
ready for the tablecloth, focuses on his thighs when
got his room sunshine in songs? were some
sort of whiskey then the
assistant then pauses, looks really really want to laugh,
even heard you, And honing in my
friend, Justin Now I find it . . . because
I
mean Then stretches and for
the word? giraffes, all over anytime
jc ... is more thought a
minute, JC smells
like this. later, after
all. out practice really
angry about it
now, a rush,
Oh.
What I like best about this fic is that the first half is Justin's thoughts about JC, and JC through Justin's eyes is so cool and mellow and laid-back and seems to always sort of know what's going on. He's the kind of guy who everybody wants to be, or date, or have as a friend. And then the second part is JC's pov, and he's fantastically odd and high-strung, not as together as Justin sees him but not a total spacecase either. It's all done with charm and ease, and the whole thing reads so beautifully.
And now, perhaps I'll do some work.
