Ahh! Why do so many people not know about divali? When I was at school we had to learn about the prettiest festivals of ALL the major religions! Mostly RE was about drawing pictures, but I remember drawing a divali LAMP and labelling it with the symbolic reasons. Then we did weddings in all the major religions. It seems kinda randomn now, but obviously educational in the long run.

Hee hee! I can never tell what people are going to recognize when it comes to this kind of thing -- *everybody* celebrated it in Trinidad, Hindu or no, but that's certainly not the case here. Although this year it seemed to enjoy some kind of widespread community fame, so that's interesting and new!
