Casting Call

I think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:
1. The person must be in movies/TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Shannen Doherty's 'Brenda Walsh') or just the person themself.
2. You have to post a link to a picture of said person in the comments. *doesn't have to SHOW...just the link if you have no other way*

These castings can be based on things in the person's personality or on physical traits you know they have.

I think EVERYBODY should do this meme. It's just way too much fun. Also, I changed the actor example, because EVERY PART of the original one was misspelled and I've never even heard of that woman anyhow.

Shirley! I relate her to you mainly for the spirit side of things-- I'm thinking of her in Steel Magnolias, mostly-- she says out loud what other people only think, and is fabulously cantankerous. I kinda love that a lot :)

also, the look she's giving here is how I see you in my head as you read LJ most days ;)

Hee! That is utterly *delightful*, especially since Steel Magnolias is one of those movies that I MUST watch every time it's on. *g* And the expression here is just *perfect*. I love!!

That's not easy you know.

Hmmm.

Hedy Lamarr in Samson and Delilah

There's another actress around that period, who was in a movie about a hurricane on an island, she wore a pareo and was just amazingly gorgeous. Dark hair, that seemed about to curl over one eye.

Like that, but with the occasional Catholic Schoolgirl outfit on.

omg, that's so fabulous. I totally adore the dark-haired sirens of that period, and Delilah! Hedy Lamarr!! Could it get any better?

*mwah*

I kept thinking of your stories, and of everything else. She was smart and hot... so there you are. Still can't think of the other actress though. Oh wait... here she is... Dorothy Lamour

Star of Typhoon and The Hurrican and other such fare.

I love how people are casting me as period screen ladies; they are so fantastic, with their neatly curled hair and wry, witty smiles! Hee!

[identity profile] cathybites.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
For my choice, it's because you have so much spunk, but you're also very laid-back and cool, which is how I always think Carole Lombard was.

[identity profile] robanybody.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ta-da! You pretty much define all those gorgeous starlets from the '30s and '40s who wore glamor like casual clothing.

I pretty much think you're the reincarnation Rosalind Russell when she was Auntie Mame. You've got that wild joy at living and a faaaaabulous style all your own. *mwah*

AUNTIE MAME! God, I really need to own that movie. It's just too much crazy high-society glee to resist!

Also, I am so elated that everybody's chosing the glamour starlets. It's really quite telling about what I come across like, and I am *so* happy that it's not, like, one of the Desperate Housewives or something. Although for the record, I would want to be the OCD redheaded one. ahahaha!

Dearest Myrna! I love that John Ford quote about her -- "the kid they pick to play tramps is the only good girl in Hollywood." Heh.

I am so very flattered. *mwah*

no pix! i sux!

- or random, nonsensical associations that happen and then don't go away, because I have no other excuse for the fact that if I weren't at work, I would be looking for a picture of little Ruthie Camden Mackenzie Rosman. I am so, so sorry.

Though honorary mention to Emily Watson in Gosford Park, smoking in the tub, mostly, and even that's cheating because a) it's because of that icon of yours, b) it's because the first time I ever read your lj was when [livejournal.com profile] pirateyes linked to your GP fic, I think, and so you = GP = forever imprinted on my brain.

And, now, if those two mated -

In a strange, dirty way? I am OVERJOYED that you relate me to Ruthie Camden. Mostly because the bitch-ass way she acts is exactly how I'd respond to living at the CamPound, ahahahaahha! Also, if she looks like this (http://tamarindball.org/lj/specialhell.jpg), I don't mind a'tall. *g*

Emily Watson in Gosford Park is even better, though. Because of her, I routinely call people "toffee-nosed and useless"; what a marvelous epithet! Hee!

[identity profile] leksa.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, yes, that is the ruthie picture exactly.

I mock the rules! MOCK!

[identity profile] marej.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
okay DO NOT TELL THIS TO YOUR MOTHER! you know I don't mean to like offend or anything, yes? Anyway, there's this very specific painting of Kali--which of fucking COURSE i can't find right now, but I have a pic at home, so i'll give another shot looking it up on the web when i get off work--that I always think of.

It's the fairly standard affair with the hand gestures and the stuck out tongue and bent knee, but she's smiling in that particular painting. The smile is what gets me and reminds me of you. It's in her eyes, it's mocking, knowing and there's some madness in it too, but somehow even the madness of it is calculated.

Now watch me never find the damn book I'd seen it in.

That is SO COOL. Kali is easily the Hindu goddess I adore the most, and I used to have little conversations with her in my head. She is so insanely marvelous, with her necklace of skulls! I am flattered like crazy (and also extremely curious about this picture, hee!)

I love it...

AHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA! After you posted this I was watching "Back in '84" and they showed The A-Team and THIS EXACT PHOTO. I laughed pretty hard, but then I laughed even *harder* because they also showed PURPLE RAIN. Poor Kurj was so confused, but I just kept pointing at her and Prince and her and laughing and LAUGHING. ahahahhaahahhahahaha!!!!

[identity profile] ciderpress.livejournal.com 2005-07-23 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
i came here to compare you to dean martin but glockgal's picture is so frabulous that i can't do very much more than laugh. *g*

ahahahhah! When we were girls we'd play "A-Team" all the time, and -- that's right -- I was Hannibal. For the record, Lori was Murdoch. Hee!

Comparing me to Dino is divine, babydoll. I like it muchly. *g*

[identity profile] virgulesmith.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Glad to know I am not the only girl who played A-Team.
