Hi, DW Circle, hi!

If you've got Canadians on your flist you've probably seen them pouring rum out for the Honourable Jack Layton, head of the NDP. His passing was a shock to me as well, in that removed-but-significant way that you sometimes feel for public figures who are sort of ... your own. Considering my voting pattern for the last few years in a riding that's desperately Conservative, Layton was definitely one of my own.

Also, after being primarily on Tumblr for the past month or so, here are the things I never want to hear about or see again:

- Dianna Agron & Chord Overstreet
- Homestuck
- Jason Todd
- anything beginning with "That awkward moment when ...." Here's a hint, kids: things like "7 people start to follow you after you post a fic" or "you dance to a song when you're cleaning your room"? THOSE ARE NOT FUCKING AWKWARD. "That awkward moment when you find out what the word 'awkward' actually MEANS", how about that. That awkward moment when SHUT THE FUCK UP

It's amazing how "awkward" seems to be the new "ironic" over Tumblr way. I'm starting to think these kids live in a constant state of awkwardness or something.

I guess the fact that Jack is (oh man, was) local and that you'd run into him at some point or another if you lived in the GTA, removed all the distance for me. I completely broke down reading his letter yesterday. A heart that big just doesn't happen in politics very often.

Exactly that. I think about all that he brought to the landscape of Canadian politics -- and even beyond that, because I used to go to White Ribbon pancake breakfasts every year -- and it feels like such a significant loss to us all.

I haven't gotten sucked into the world of tumblr for the most part--there are just a couple specific ones I keep up with--but I had no idea Dianna Agron and Chord Overstreet were so big in the world of tumblr? Huh. Can't say I see much of them on my DW/LJ reading pages, for which I guess I now feel grateful.

It's probably the corner of tumblr that I happen to be on that worships at the altars of Dianna and Chord, lol. I mean, I'm tired of hearing about how Dianna/Quinn is so FLAWWWLESSS, but at least I've read her tumblr and she seems like a lovely person so it's just tedious; it's the pumped-beyond-all-sense adoration of Chord/Sam that confuses me. HE WAS A NUMPTY IN THE SHOW AND HE'S A NUMPTY IN REAL LIFE, GET OVER IT, FUCK.

Not to mention I've never understood why people think Dianna is the prettiest ever, when Naya Rivera is RIGHT THERE. But that's my own personal taste, lol.
