We Invented the Remix: 4 is up, hurrah!! Here are my picks:

you and i both [the meta movie remix]: omg HYSTERICAL. This is such a clever, clever twist on the story, the characterizations are awesome, the dialogue is witty, sharp and insanely funny, and I have not seen such an original remix in *ages*. Y'all, I was laughing out loud all the way through. Hee!

just like that [the happiness staggering mix]: Writing JC's voice isn't something I think a lot of people do well, but this is perfect JC-headspace and the fact that it all sounds so good on pot is even more impressive. There's a chewy, thick plushness to this remix that I really liked.

show me the way to the ocean [here from there get remix]: oh, yum. Just about my favourite flavour of timbertrick, oranges and dirty clubs and incredible, vibrant dialogue and threemanbussex, oh my YES. Great, great stuff.

a beautiful thing [the kraft mustard remix]: If there's one thing I'm a sucker for, it's fics that have all the boys in them and plenty of affectionate cameraderie interspersed with amusing dialogue. And this one's got that, plus some truths about what people do when they play RPG videogames. *g*

bottom of the ninth [the romance is dead, long live romance remix]: At first I was all, "who the hell would remix a het original character story?!!?" but this story won me over because I like short takes, especially when they're sharp and provocative and don't overexplain the subtext. Very well done.

justin's dark design [the ride it on remix]: Yay! More threemanbus loopiness, with delightful little notes to their characters that seem so spot-on. Me likey.

justification [dust me off remix]: omg, I love stories where Justin's all fucked in the head. And this one works like crazy, because Lance is the perfect foil for it, accommodating and detached and reserved and jaded all at once and the contrast of that against keyed-up, desperately slutty Justin makes for some fascinating reading!

keep pounding rhythm [contrapuntal]: This one's my favourite; although I'm biased because this story is very personal to me, the remixer did an astounding job with it, keeping this luscious langourous mood and adding twists and spikes to the obeah magic that I could never have dreamed of. It's lusty and gorgeous and full of colour and taste and sensation, and omg I think I'm gonna reread it RIGHT NOW.

Check 'em out! And be sure to tune in again next year, when yours truly will be taking over the challenge. Will the circle be unbroken, by and by lord by and by. *g*

Agree with you on Bot9. I have a soft spot in my head for the original, just because it was a Pure Cheese Birthday Present for me (*amused giggle*), but when [livejournal.com profile] raineesue called me and told me which of her stories was remixed, I think I jawdropped quite significantly.

But the remix is so... yes, wonderful. I feel bad for pulling Chris away from his boys. XD

ahahah! I myself like het stories, but I have this kneejerk hatred for original characters. *g* Still! The remix was so very very good that it didn't even matter in the end! I'm glad you got a good one!

Oh, I'll read the occasional het story, but, yeah, I agree with the usual hatred of OCs. I just tend to make an exception in the case of THIS story as, well, the OC in question is me, hence the Cheesy Birthday Present part. XD

But yes, her remix for the story written for me was fab, and mine was good too. Add that to the fact that the SeSa I got written for me in '04 was also remixed, and I just half got the impression that this was, like, the year of Me in remix. *grin*

Dustin Pinepond! Vance Boss! SHEER GENIUS.

I am so excited to take over the challenge! I look forward to it every year; I just hope we don't lose even more participants by the time the next one rolls around!
