bossymarmalade: blue eye with lashes of red flower petals (o frith on the hills!)

if you love your bible so much, why don't you marry it?!?

Happiest of birthdays to my dear [livejournal.com profile] chootoy! You are a fearless Lt (except if your Skippy is threatened) and a talented mini-synthesizer artist--never let anybody tell you differently, or they will be summarily dismissed as PIRAHNA PARIAHS. *snug* Glad to be with you through all the mad craziness and Button-fics, woman.

In less exciting news: I usually stick up for Americans when it comes to my countrymen deriding the entire nation for being completely clueless about even the most simple elements of Canadian life (such as us not living in igloos or finishing every single sentence with "eh"), but then I run across stuff like this. Poor girl. I really shouldn't have made fun of her, but I just couldn't help myself.

Also, I got an e-mail back from one of the MPs I wrote to concerning the Equal Marriage Bill, thanking me for "exercising [my] rights as a Canadian and communicating [my] concerns with [her] office". Most unexpected! I've written ALOT "" of e-mails and letters concerning various causes and this is the first time I've gotten a reply, even if it is a form response. (ETA: just got one from Jim Prentice, too.)

In conclusion: The Simpsons last night rocked. We always knew Patty was a lesbian, but it was neat to see Marge's liberal views challenged when it was *her* family in question and not just John Waters visiting with cactus candy. Heh.

I was at a camp in oregon, and was talked into a little Q/A about Denmark, and there were many questions ( do you have tv/playstation/electricity etc. ) but dude, one kid asked if we had a sun too.

one kid asked if we had a sun too

AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHAA!!!! Oh, that's *insane*. I also really like it when I tell people I lived in Trinidad when I was a kid, and they kindly say, "your English is very good!" Because, like--it *should* be, considering THEY SPEAK ENGLISH THERE. *g*

*laughs* god. read a book, people!!!

[identity profile] smaa-nisser.livejournal.com 2005-02-21 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
But I suppose if you have a very bad memory, we don't have a sun. I mean, have you seen it today? ;)

it's the big bright thing, right? because in that case, no. ;p

Hee! Same thing could be said about Vancouver, when it's in its more rainy periods. *g*

I was so happy she didn't marry her fiancee even after the big reveal. Seriously! It was great. And dude, for two hundred bucks a pop, I'd marry anyone who asked, too! I have a nice yard, we could do a lovely set up! (probably complete with religous protesters, since we've got our own set of crazy-religious neighbors across the street ;) )

On the one hand, I was kind of like, "well, she fell in love with Veronica as a *person*, shouldn't that matter?" but that was my liberal Lisa Simpson kneejerk reaction. *g* Because really, who would want to marry a person who kept their *gender* secret from you? In the end, I totally was happy that Patty didn't go through with it.

for two hundred bucks a pop, I'd marry anyone who asked, too!

Would you marry people to things? That would be *hysterical*. ahahahahh!

[identity profile] lemniskate.livejournal.com 2005-02-21 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
for two hundred bucks a pop, I'd marry anything to anything! hell. that's a lot of ipods ;)

Dude, it hurts my head when people ask if we have SUMMER in Minnesota.

Then again there was a film crew in northern MN like 10 years that were perplexed they didn't have snow to film in JUNE.

Hee! I barely even see snow, which some people just don't understand. I mean, it's not like we live in the ARCTIC or something. *g*

I take a plane ride to visit my girlfriend in another country, and I MISS Patty's coming out?! Maaaaaaaaaan. But huzzah for that happening. I love The Simpsons so much.

I am SURE there will be reruns galore. At least there wasn't the "this episode discusses same-sex marriage - viewer discretion is advised" warning before our telecast, like there was in the States. At least, not that I noticed, but I tuned in at the opening credits. Stupid network! It's a really fabulous episode, and I think it worked on a lot more levels than just being the "Patty comes out!" episode. God, that show is awesome.

Also, I loved your comment to the girl who wonders if Vancouver has gas stations. Whale blubber just has so many uses!

But damnit, I missed the gay marriage Simpsons! I wonder when it will re-run... :/

You are so mean. but that's why I love you.

and OMIGOD I loved the Simpsons last night! My favorite bit, because I am boring and predictable, was Marge's comment about Lenny and Carl. oh, how that filled me with glee!

[identity profile] chootoy.livejournal.com 2005-02-21 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
