bossymarmalade: blue eye with lashes of red flower petals (this one's super lucky!)

kill the dorks! bash their butts!

So some things happened this weekend that mean that I can no longer:
1) say that I've never tried ecstacy
2) call Cold Mountain "My Favourite Movie I've Never Seen".

Is Hamish/Frank/Menelaus gonna be in *every* movie that comes out in the next little while? Just wondering.

During the drug experience, I watched Battle Royale, starring my new Japanese boyfriend Takeshi Kitano. My problem with Lord of the Flies was that I never quite *believed* that kids could go so savage so fast, but this one? I believed. Whoo indeed. If you like the Kill Bill movies, see if you can track down Battle Royale and take a look at what Tarantino was aiming for.

In slightly movie-related news, I was at the video store yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] silvrsolace; I was standing in line waiting for the cashier to check our movie out, and this yellow-headed kid stood next to me and leaned up against me like I was his big sister or something. Which was odd in itself, but odder still for me because children smell my fear of them and stay away. But his tousled little curly head was soft and warm, and he didn't steal my wallet, so, yes. Unexpectedly nice, if strange.

So how was the E? I've tried almost everything but. For some reason the prospect of sudden death scared me.

It was definitely stronger than pot, and I was acutely aware for every minute of it *just how* high I was. But it was also a little scary, because with pot, if you want it to stop you just have to eat. With E, you're pretty much in it for the long haul. It took a long time to kick in, but once it did it made me wired and strange for the entire night.

I had a pill out of a batch that had been sampled already, so the sudden-death scare wasn't too big a concern. *g*

Hmmm. Did you have the warm-and-glowy-I-love-you-all feeling everyone describes?

I'd always heard that the sudden-death thing was less to do with the formula of the pill and more to do with how the individual reacted to it, like the sudden deaths with crack or cocaine.

Actually, by all accounts I got really aggressive. My sister thought it was funny because she knows when I yell and rant, there's not much real bite behind it, but I think I frightened the drug-supplying friend.

more to do with how the individual reacted to it

Ah, yes -- now I remember my friend telling me that it fucks up your seratonin levels or something and can affect your spinal fluid, or something like that. Really, I'm in no hurry to try it again; it was interesting, but disturbing as well. There wasn't any of the feeling of general happiness and mellowness that I feel with pot, man. I think the Cha-zaaay had the right idea saying that he doesn't do chemicals. Heh.

I'm a little bummed that with me, smoking pot tends to precipitate panic attacks. I never used to be like that (with a few notable exceptions, oy) but sadly now I can't partake. I guess when JC and I hook up, I'll just have to laugh at him and make egg jokes.

Wooooo!

I love Battle Royale. It is one of my faaaavoritest movies ever.

But avoid the sequel. Ugh.

There's a sequel? Why must sequels always suck? Thank you for the advice, sugarplum. I am now fully convinced that there is NO ASPECT of cult classics that you are unaware of. Hee!

Oh man, I totally have a crush on Beat Takeshi. I really need to make an effort to see Zatoichi.

Utterly fabulous. It seemed very short, but that could have just been because of the high-ness of me. I think you'd definitely like it!

Is Hamish/Frank/Menelaus gonna be in *every* movie that comes out in the next little while?

YES. And this pleases me greatly because he looks like my daddy. I was surprised that he was in The Village, but then again, I was surprised by everyone who was in that movie and not Joaquin Phoenix.

And ever since Joie told me that the line 'You ain't never gon' get Cold Mountain!' isn't actually in the movie, I've lost all desire to see it, no matter how pretty Jude Law is.

[identity profile] mostlikelyto.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. You should still see it! Because Gimli's in it and he totally says, "We battle for Middle Earth!" and then Legolas and Pippin do a little dance while Gollum watches the Spice channel. REALLY.

A guy like me could go gay real quick down there in Middle Earth, eh?

[identity profile] cathybites.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?! Oh wow, now I kind of wish it had won more Oscars. Okay, if you say so I'll watch it, just to see Legolas and Pippin do a little dance.

So does that mean you watched "Cold Mountain" or you have another favorite movie you've never seen?
