Sweetie, for real. I don't know why people need to act as though downloading the songs is some kind of act of betrayal or treason to the Legion of Online JC Fans or something. Fandom is never gonna be *exactly* what we all want it be, because we all want different things, and hoping that everybody else will see things the same way you do? Personally, I'm disappointed in JC's choice of footwear for the Leno show. So we are even.

I'm grabbing them today- I see him in concert tomorrow night, and I like concerts better when I have at least a passing familiarity with the songs. So I don't have to absorb the whole thing at once.

It's not like I'm not getting the thing Tuesday....

Hee! I think it's because JC's actually expressed annoyance at the whole song-download phenomenon and has said he doesn't want his songs leaked. Which, y'know -- he's an artist, and he can say what he wants. Doesn't mean I'm going to listen to him, and I sure as hell don't think he'll be disappointed in me going out to buy his album, so, whatever. Suck it up, big boy. Maybe if you'd gotten your album together in time for any one of the myriad of release dates you'd given, people wouldn't be chomping at the bit to get it!

Crazyinsane! The decision not to download JC's album is great, more power to ya, but to try and make other people feel like they're BETRAYING JC and fandom as a whole by downloading? That's just high-handed and horrible.

Why do these people suck so bad? They know JC fans and *NSYNC fans are going to buy the album no matter what (for the most part) so why can't they let people be a little giddy over a couple songs?

I haven't seen any of this kerfuffle (praise the small friends list) but I don't think there was a time when I wasn't going to download them. And I'm not a big downloader.

But I haven't heard any of his songs. Not one. So I at least want to have some idea of what I'm buying first because, lets face it, some of us are pretty fucking poor and even buying one CD is not to be taken lightly.

I haven't bought a CD in ages. Which doesn't mean I wouldn't love to, but finances just don't allow for me to buy everything RIGHT AWAY.

JC's I will buy, because I've been planning to, but I don't see why anybody who chooses to download should be treated like a pariah for not "keeping the faith" or "abiding by JC's wishes" or whatever. Feh.

I understand that some people have moral objections to downloading on a whole, but proclaiming disappointment that the rest of fandom can't be as virtuous as you are and wait until the physical album release? Especially when lots of fans AREN'T going to get the album on Tuesday because they don't live in the States? I call pretentious high-horsing on that one, yo.

I stayed up till 2am downloading them, naked, with the door unlocked-- just in case he wanted to punish me personally.

you know what would be really terrible? If i downloaded the songs and then decided not to buy the album. i think that'd put me on the top of the list for a spanking from Mr Chasez, don't you?

For me, personally, this is my first 'N Sync album. Ever. I've been so excited about it that I stopped listening to the club mp3s two months ago. I haven't listened to a leak since well before the full version of "A.D.I.D.A.S." got out, and I've planned my entire day on Tuesday around this album. Now, the fact that it leaked doesn't change any of that for me, because I'm not downloading it. That's a personal choice, and that's all it is - I choose not to, others choose to. It's not right or wrong, it just is. What we do won't impact album sales, and it certainly won't make JC cry... like what happens on LJ or the JJB is even a blip on his radar screen. ;)

But honestly, what disappoints me about this is that so few people want to savor the anticipation with me. I'm disappointed that I won't get to share this with so many of my friends here because they'll have already heard the album. And while it's certainly their prerogative, I can't change the fact that it makes me sad.

I get that you're one of those people who likes to wait until the big reveal and not peek beforehand and hey, I understand -- I waited to buy Justin's album, and I'm gonna wait to buy JC's. But on the same token I think you're coming off kind of judgemental about people who are downloading. I mean, talking about how sad you are that nobody else seems to undertstand how special these moments are and making it seem like it's some particular *virtue* to wait it out until the album drops? That's really alienating to people who choose to download now and it seems like you're intimating that they're somehow *lesser* JC fans for not going your route.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, no, you can't help feeling disappointed. But fandom meets different needs for different folks, and I can't see how making other people feel like they're crappy fans is going to help *anybody* enjoy JC's album more.

Besides, everybody waiting until the same day to listen to a physical copy of the album isn't a feasible plan in a fandom like this -- the release date is waaaaaay later for folks who don't live in North America. If we all held on to share the special moment together, we'd be waiting at least another month, yo!
