done and done. and i mean *done*!
Naturally, I've been so busy that I haven't had time to read the SeSas before the unveiling.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I wrote waaaay more than I could have predicted. Mostly because I never think about how much I'm going to write; the thing about popslash, though, is that it makes me more prolific than any other fandom to date.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2003?
I think the JC/Justin was a surprise, and I blame it all on
beth666ann, who makes the pairing so appealing to me. I also never thought I'd write *nslash/boondock saints fic, but there you go. Fandomwise, I dabbled in lotrips, Igby Goes Down, and Gosford Park. And of course, there's all that delicious Lynncest. *g*
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
Happiest would definitely go to brains go great with aquavit. Not because of the pairings or the quality of the writing so much, but because it was so much damn fun to write and I find it fun to re-read.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I think this year I learned how to make the guys more human. If the accursed Hiatus was good for one thing, it was making me see them all in more dimensions; I've come to enjoy the freedom of writing them flaws and all (and maybe more caustic and cruel than I did last year) and the challenge of making them still empathetic and sympathetic.
the spider story and keep pounding rhythm were *huge* risks for me, because of the subject matter. I mean, Justin turning into a cannibalistic spider and Britney being an obeah woman? Writing those took lots of thought and work in order to keep them from being just fucking stupid. *g*
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Profic: hmmmm...well, I've been thinking about it for a while. It remains to be seen if I can pull it together.
Fanfic: LEARN HOW TO PLOT, for fucksake. I also want to finish:
- the Batman crossover with robin!Lance
- the Twin Peaks au

smartlikejustin's birthday fic from last year, because I'm a loser and got tangled up in challenges.

But, really this quote is why I had to comment:

Yes, yes and yes. It's been fascinating (loaded word, but I'm being for real) observing them alone, with their owd devices/vices. Makes the stories that much more compelling.

Indeed! I've come to realize that some of them I like even without the others around, one of them I downright *dislike* without the others, and for the most part, I'm bored by solo interviews. Heh. Equal opportunity annoyance! *g*
