if you do not remedy this malparkage within seventy-two hours

Like many of you, I'm sure, I did the whole "should I/shouldn't I" dance about posting today. And then I tried to remember where I was and what I was doing two years ago, and I realized I was working a crappy temp job that made me grind my teeth at night.

So then I thought about exactly one month later, on October 11, when my sister and I were flying down to DC. Because I remember my parents being worried and saying -- girls, you're brown-skinned and you're from Canada; maybe you should cancel this trip. And we thought about it for a couple of minutes and told them, nah, we'll still go. it won't be a problem.

We went and saw the Washington Monument and the Vietnam Wall and the statue of Iwo Jima and watched the sun set from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and y'know, it never was a problem. Maybe that's simplistic, but it's a damn good thing to me.

It is a very good thing.

By the way, does you dad say this every time you leave the house? I remember him saying it when you came here!!!

Oh, dude. I confused a lot of people on that trip. He wanted to know what chatroom I used! Good Lord.

Isn't that the only reason Canadians come to the States anymore?

I'll always love that story -- that border guard cared, man! He wanted to protect you! Hee!

*blink* Oh man...it never even once entered my mind not to post today. Does that make me a bad person? No, seriously. 'Cause on Remembrance Day, I usually just post In Flanders Fields and that's it. Or, actually, I won't post again until much later at night, when it's practically the next day (my birthday!). But still, I do something for it, and it does cross my mind not to post for our holiday.

...you made my head hurt now. ;D
