bossymarmalade: blue eye with lashes of red flower petals (whatever)
miss maggie ([personal profile] bossymarmalade) wrote2003-08-12 08:38 pm

and now, the mad marge dancers!

I got to see [livejournal.com profile] chootoy and have a free lunch today! Nothing says fun like food you don't have to pay for, even if it is a veggie burger eaten while perched on a dried-up fountain.

Randomly, I used to know a lot of big words back in the ol' murder pohleece days. I love the sparkly boys with all my heart and most of my wardrobe, but they just don't let you play with your vocabulary the way Munch does. My Homicide fic almost reads as if it was written by a different person, and I have the sneaking suspicion that I'm a lot dumber now. Please, don't hasten to agree. *g*

In closing, Robert Duvall is a jackass (link from [livejournal.com profile] darkvictory). I don't even have anything to say about his Canada-hate because it's obvious he's mentally degenerating, but at least he's not (unrelatedly) deluded like this, as has been pointed out.

[identity profile] darkvictory.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Duvall is seriously going a bit cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. He made some weird-ass statements there. Still, his Canada-hate pisses me off. Bitching about customs going through his bag?! Yeah, newsflash, pal, that happens now wherever you travel. It's not like you guys are just waving us Canadians through customs without a problem. *shakes head* It's way past medication time for him.

He needs to toddle off to a nice little raisin ranch in Texas where he can rail all about how we're hoarding the good water and all we do is make hockey players and bacon. Feh.

[identity profile] silvrsolace.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
that is a cool friggin' icon!

[identity profile] darkvictory.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly. We're hoarding the good water and all the lovely, lovely trees they'd like to clear-cut and all we do is send them mad cows. I'm surprised he didn't say we're conspiring to kill all Americans with our mad cow disease.

[identity profile] indirajames.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, Munch. One of my two favorite cop-type people ever. Sniff.

Munchling! And who, pray tell, is the other of your two favourites? I am nosy. *g*

[identity profile] indirajames.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Briscoe, from Law & Order. Munch was my first love! Back when I was wee, I watched Homicide with my dad and it was so fun. Nostalgia, aww.

I've, sadly, made the same language slide since my XFiles/Buffy days. LOL Funny how the sparkly boys do that, huh? In general, it's worth it. Until the day I slip and add in a "yo" while at work or something. <.g>
ext_872: eye with red flower petals as eyelashes (Default)

[identity profile] bossymarmalade.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
*g* "dude" and "yo" have become a frighteningly large part of my vocabulary. But at least I wear sparkly hairpins!

[identity profile] marej.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he's absolutely right about Torontonians not liking Americans, at least. Not only we don't like 'em, we also throw plastic water bottles at em, when they come to partake in a benefit concert, at that.

Also, we kill small animals just.for.fun. Because we are too talentless to do anything else, clearly. Oh! And! Kill them and *then* paint their tiny little corpses in red blue and white, tie 'em to a rope and swing 'em, cowboy style, at American tourists, if we can find them, if not we go for the British. Complete opposite of the NICE!Canadians out west, we are.

Bitter? Who me? Why you say?

heh heh heh. You also leech business from them, remember, when traitor Americans come across the border to take advantage of the exchange rate.

As for we westerners -- we're not so much nice as we are clannish. Pacific Northwesterners are all very similar in our resentment for you Eastern fatcats, and then we get around to hating each other's nationalities. *g*

JC better watch his back, he can't handle the pressure. I should have known all along that it wasn't Jive at all, it was Clay. Silly me.

[identity profile] merryish.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!

Yeah, cause they're *so* totally playing to the same market, man.

Grrrrrr. It's comparisons like that what cause unrest!

That's the thing...if the music was remotely similar, then maybe, MAYBE I'd get it.

Huge orchestral version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "A.D.I.D.A.S"...it's like listening to the same song, man.

I just had a vision of Clay singing ADIDAS.

Hold me?

[identity profile] tallories.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I was a big fan of the Crazy Old Man Singers.

The ol' grey mare, she hain't what she used to be....

Hah!

[identity profile] navia.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Popslash does decrease intelligence. The thought of writing Mulder now twists my brain. Could I even do it?

I think Robert Duvall is seriously going senile. And Clay fans...I don't even know what to say about them. They seem to be even crazier than the Justin-hating JC psychos, and that's saying something.

[identity profile] bossymarmalade.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
But he's Christian! HE'S CHRISTIAN!! This apparently makes him the best thing to happen to music since the zither.

And I'm sure that if Mulder just put on a pair of red snakeskin jeans and a few leather wristbands, you'd be writing him just like old times!

[identity profile] navia.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, is that the deal? I didn't realize it was all Christian enthusiasm. That explains much.

My Homicide fic almost reads as if it was written by a different person, and I have the sneaking suspicion that I'm a lot dumber now.
I so understand what you mean. The thought of writing some of my old characters is rather daunting now. I would so have Mulder saying dude or something equally inappropriate.

I think the solution for this is to become annoyingly wordy in regular conversation. *g*

[identity profile] zaneetas.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite part of that Robert Duvall article is the paragraph where he so innocently wonders why Canadian actors think they have any right to expect employment...in films shot in Canada. You're right, Robert. It's a subversion of all that's holy and good when people somehow think they should be allowed to work in their own home country. The damn nerve!
ext_872: eye with red flower petals as eyelashes (Default)

[identity profile] bossymarmalade.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit, yeah! Movie companies should be able to cart up entire crews and casts from America and co-opt our soil and cities when they feel like filming! It's not as if we have a booming film industry here, or anything silly like that.

*rolls eyes* Some people should just stay home in their nice little xenophobic bubbles until they die, y'know?

[identity profile] silvrsolace.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Clay Aiken...competition for JC....oh please it's not Jive, or Justin or the "beloved" Clay....dude, it's JC himself delaying the record...stop make excuses...*rolls eyes*

Wow Robert Duval is competing with GWB for the brain power award eh? I would slam him more, like about the treatment of Natives (um...hello, did you even pay attention to US treatment of "Indians"), and his feelings about getting knocked off a Canadian horse (maybe you can't ride)...whatever, he's 72...and he'll die soon. that's my feeling. Speaking of good actors...i've never seen him as one, myself. Just saying.

whatever, he's 72...and he'll die soon

aahhaahhahahhhh!! That's excellent. And same goes for his selective indignation over Native rights. Also, he was very annoying in Newsies. So much for Robert Duvall! *spits*

[identity profile] darkvictory.livejournal.com 2003-08-13 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, he was very annoying in Newsies.

AHAHAHAHAH, YES! My friend and I used to fast-forward through the parts with him and we used to mock the part where he does his little human computer thing, calculating how much money they'll save by shafting the newsies. :D
