I'm not, like, ethically opposed to eating "pet" animals, but I can't get over a distate for the idea of what their meat would taste like. *shudder*

That was ages ago, in Taiwan. I remember feeling let down and not much else. It didn't taste good or even bad enough to leave an impression, and it was supposedly a black dog! (Taiwanese legends rank dogs by "one black, two yellow, three spotted, four white")

I agree about the (perceived) taste of pets' meat. Especially cats. No cat has ever looked remotely edible to me. Just, no. On the other hand, snakes look disgusting but taste ok. Randomly, I'm against calling a snake-cat feast "dragon-tiger". Ewww.

I think I could handle eating snake, if only because they don't have, y'know -- blood vessels and stuff. They're white and flaky like fish, right?

It's the idea of the tough, gamey sinew in cats and dogs that squicks me. Ick. Although it's good to know that dog tastes nondescript. *g*

Sinewy meat squicks me regardless of source. Specific to cats... I imagine a very, very sour taste, for some reason.
