Server's down, nothing to do, might as well make some fic recs.
Frontier, by
imogennegomi. It's an au but it's almost like a barebones charcoal sketch of one, compelling and woodsmokey, and the characterizations are so vivid and clear that I never doubt a moment of it.
Habit by
callmesandy, in which JC is a diva, Joey an unrepentant slut, Chris is drunk, Justin tries and fails, and Lance needs to think shit over. It hits hard and I can see every single bit of it.
Something to Hold by
giddygeek, which is JoeC and manages to be clever and sweet and funny at the same time. JC is suspicious of Joey's ulterior motives, and his little twisted plots and plans to prove foul play just kill me.
but in the quiet by
smartlikejustin is a brave piece of work, because it's a hell of a challenge to write a story where one of your primary characters can't say a word. But the fic never gets bogged down in explanatory exposition, and it's got a wonderful warm comfortable quality that always makes me happy.
Breathe by
glockgal is interesting because while my sister knows the ins and outs of popslash, she doesn't generally write it. And it's sometimes interesting to see a take on the boys from someone who's not so immersed in fandom stereotypes and trends. Plus, it's just a cool damn story, JC and Death and Delirium.
