*interested* Do you think so? I've never submitted anything professionally and have no idea what the process is. But damn--that's a hell of a compliment, Trisha. I'm gonna have to think on that one. *snug*
1) Write it up as a manuscript. Nice simple font, 10 or 12 pt., double spaced, one-sided, with your name and address contact info at the top right corner of each page.
2) Write a cover letter that introduces yourself and your credentials. Once you start getting more things published, you can list what publications you've been published in and what the payment amount was.
3) Find a Writer's Guide in the library and copy down the names and addresses of magazines you think your story would fit well in. Call/email to verify that the information is correct before you send.
4) In a 9" x 12" envelope, email your manuscript (MS) and the cover letter, and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
5) Wait, and keep track of which stories you send to where. Collect rejection letters, but don't be discouraged. Keep writing more stories.
Can I just say that I truly loved the story as I do all your writing but this one left me feeling so stupid. I just couldn't grasp the ending. I'll be rereading it again and again to see what I missed. You are great with settings and just the whole piece was so well written and great. I agree it should be published somewhere. Great Job! SJ
