happy love-day!!
There was minor irritation this morning while I was listening to the radio, because the djs were doing some silly contest to see if this guy could answer "female-oriented" questions correctly. One of the questions was "Who is Nigella Lawson?"
The totally confused guy hazards the guess, "Is she a model?"
To which one of the chick djs squeals in the background, "she's too fat!!!" and then dissolves into laughter.
Women really disappoint me sometimes.
But! Due to intense discussion earlier over the merits or lack thereof of Mr. Kirkpatrick,
powrhug has suggested that today be a Chris Kirkpatrick Love Day in this, the month of Chris in the year two thousand and three.
I do not object. *g* In fact, I have to think of some daily way to celebrate Chris Month, because
wgsarah is doing fic recs (duly passed on by
cathybites, and I'm not sure if I should as well. I'll think of something.

Oh lordisa, save me from my gender.
I think some women feel compelled to tear down other women in the hopes that if they villify obviously beautiful, talented, intelligent women, they themselves will be considered more appealing by the men around them. The logic is "If I tear her down, they won't notice that I feel she's much, much better than me." Makes me sad. And also verbose, apparently.
...oh, wait. This is your journal?

And, yes, I totally agree with you. One of my co-workers asked me today, "If we were at a movie, and I said that the girl in the film was pretty, would you instantly start saying that her boobs were fake?" Naturally, I said no, I wouldn't, unless her boobs obviously were fake. He told me that I was the only woman he knew who said she wouldn't act like that.
It's quite pathetic, really. I'm all for a good snarkfest, but does it have to be catty and lame?
