...but i'm feeling much better now

Unrelated to anything ever: I was reading a People magazine or something in the dentist's office yesterday, and there was actually an article on Harry Anderson. Oh, you remember him--he played the wacky but good-hearted Judge Harry Stone on "Night Court"? Yeah, that's right. I know you watched that show just as obsessively as I did.

Anyhow, he apparently owns a prestiditigtation shop in New Orleans, or something. The important part was, he said something about being "richer than Davy Crockett" and how he never has to work again, but can just live in luxury on his earnings from Night Court.

That amazes me, man. People like MC Hammer and Toni Braxton--who raked in fuckloads of money--go bankrupt, but Harry Anderson's living the cushy life. He must have made either some really great investments or a deal with the devil. Wait, wasn't that an episode of Night Court...?

In other news, the Wee Sister thinks that JC's bombastic singing in "Here and Now" sounds like he's trying to evoke Mahalia Jackson. I find this intensely amusing.

Dude, it's all about the re-runs. Every single time they re-air one of those episodes they have to cut him a check. That's why David Duchovny was so pissed at Fox selling the syndication rights to the show to their own cable network. They sold them at a lower cost, which meant the actors royalty cut also neded up being a lot smaller.

That's true, isn't it? I didn't take reruns into account. Still, though. It's pretty impressive.

He also seems like one of those people who did some wise investing and didn't blow everything on cars and mansions. I always thought he was cool. Loved that show, too.

You must say hello to the wee sister for me.

I had a crush on Judge Stone, dude. I loved that show so much.

Plus, the Wee Ssiter says hi back! ^_^

Another guy who did that was Gabe Kaplan (Kotter from Welcome Back Kotter)--left acting, became a stockbroker, made a boatload of money and quite wisely says he'd never go back to the small screen. I admire people who know when to get in and when to get out.

I'm an old lady, because I remember Harry Anderson waaaaayyyy before Night Court when he was doing his standup routine on SNL and guesting on Cheers. I thought he was mighty cute and am quite charmed that he's running just the sort of business you'd expect from his showbiz persona. :-)

It's an "appointment-only" magic store, too--he's got antique magic supplies and stuff, and only sells to the "serious magician." Which is also kind of neat. No 1920's exploding Snap cards for the plebs!

Harry Anderson doesn't really seem like the kind to blow loads of cash on Cris and bling

Although that might be really interesting to watch. *g*

That explains a hell of a lot. Seriously. The first several times I listened to that song, I kept wondering who that was. Finally I decided it had to be JC, even if it did sound like ... Mahalia Jackson. Or some approximation of Mahalia Jackson sung by a twenty-year-old white boy.

Lance, on the other hand. Oh, Lance. Lance, Lance, Lance. That range! That pretty, pretty voice! Audible Lance makes me happy.

*giggle* JC's singing in the early days is a thing of much fun. If he's not singing through his nose and teeth, he's belting it like a gospel choir. Hallelujah!

Audible Lance makes me happy, too. The dear boy!
