i'm a torso!
People have been friending and de-friending me at an alarming rate. Ahhh, well. It's part of the Circle of Life, or something like that. Don't make me start singing Disney at you.
The Wee Sister and I made a concerted effort to watch Buffy last night. Perhaps this requires some explanation.
I've been an outsider on this whole Buffy thing for a while now. Most of my friends--online and RL--love the show; I even scrumped around in the fanfic for it in an effort to learn more. I was admiring of the things the show took chances in doing, like silent or musical episodes. Like, dude--how cool is that? Also, I proof the "Buffy Bites" column every month in Sequential Tart, so I kind of know what's going on.
But when it actually came to watching the show, everything fell apart. Lori and I would sit there and watch, and watch, and inevitably end up going, "Um, so...what just happened?" Because we'd just tune out. We have some sort of synapse misfire where Joss Whedon is concerned (I know this because the same thing happened with Firefly); we have to work at paying attention to the show. Plus, we don't particularly care for any of the characters, which makes it challenging.
Fortunately, Anya spoke in subtitles. Which meant that we were forced to pay attention. I'm still not in love with the show, but hey, I made it through an episode of my own volition! Yay me.
I am eating the driest croissant in the world. How something made with so damn much shortening can dry out so badly, I don't know.
*chews manfully*

We know all of those Lion King songs by heart. Which, um, isn't that surprising, since I have the soundtrack.. Muh.

That is so wrong. No one cares about their craft anymore! No one gets anything right! It's all slapdash, fold it up and put it in the Starbucks case, who cares if it tastes right. So sad.

But i am also very proud of you for making such a concerted effort to watch and pay attention to an entire episode! Did you like the episode?

Also, I watched ten minutes of Firefly and switched it to another station because I couldn't take it anymore. I really *want* to like it, but I find it boring.

I had someone friend me last week and then defriend me the very next day.
Heh.
Gotta be a record, as it usually takes three or four days for me to frighten newbies.

I'd really recommend renting or borrowing Seasons 1-3 and watching those, because that's what always renews my Buffy love. It really is a great show but you have to watch it a bit before you can see the whole picture. And listen to me wax reminiscent about Faith, Oz and evil!Spike *happy sigh*
And, girl, step away from the croissant.
