I love romantic comedies and I HATED "Serendipity" so much that I couldn't even finish it. my general thoughts when I turned off the movie were, "oh john cusack. I hope kate beckinsale ruins your life"
My favorites in the genre never have the lead leaving someone at the alter who didn't totally deserve it. Bridget Jones's Diary (because Colin Firth is so dreamy) while no one was actually to the alter yet, the alternatives for either character are unacceptable. While You Were Sleeping, because Sandy Cohen was a total putz (and Bill Pullman should always get the girl!) Four Weddings and a Funeral because omg he can't marry duckface! Also they usually contain some combination of Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. (although the one they made together, while not strictly awful, could have been much better.)
Although, my favorite is Sabrina, where no one is left at the alter, and everyone is happy in the end. \o/
