Ahahaha! Yes, but they were way, way popular--they were the dog food to get for your dog, if you really cared about your dog.
On the other hand, they were about the consistency of Tender Vittles, if you remember those--looked like raw beef, but much drier. Um, almost like PlayDoh, really. So the gross factor was pretty low. Probably the nutrition factor was pretty low, for the dog, but that was the era of Betty Crocker, and lots of white food--our ideas of good nutrition were not exactly founded in science.
